In January 2020, the City of Encinitas held its first-ever cyclovia event. Cyclovia—Spanish for “cycleway”—means a stretch of road is closed to automobiles so cyclists, skaters, and pedestrians have access to local businesses on open streets. I had the pleasure of designing brochures and posters to help provide information to local businesses and the public about the inaugural event. A vivid color palette paired with geometric shapes and graphic illustrations depicting modes of movement caught eyes and activated excitement of a community ready to play and explore.
